We’re a sucker for these early vintage PCI holders and ANA photograde certificates as they represent a window into some of the earliest attempts the first “TPGs” were making to authenticate and grade coins for the collecting public. They’re not everywhere but they’re out there today. Go to a show, you’re likely to see a PCI holder or 2 or an ANA photgrade certificate. You might even find a dealer with a handful of them.
What you’re highly unlikely to come across are key dates in spectacular condition still residing in these……so when this absolutely awesome 1932 D was presented to us, we weren’t about to hesitate.
The holder is way cool, but the coin itself is even cooler as this is an AWESOME original skinned choice AU with terrific eye appeal for a 1932 D as the pictures will hopefully convey. None of the smudging or splotchiness so commonly found on 32 Ds at the upper AU and MS levels and no washed out, dipped out look that also frequently accompanies this date. This is a premium quality example, to be sure.
